Snow, darkness, Christmas preparations, cacao, movies, happiness… December in Norway is probably the coziest month you can think of. Suddenly, people become friendly. Even though it's freezing outside, people are happy. You can see a spark in their eyes. They look forward to something. It doesn't necessarily have to be Christmas. It can just be the simple fact that soon they will get a holiday, some time to spend with their families. Relaxing inside the living room, wearing only pyjamas and at the same time watching TV, drinking a cup of coffee or even better - cacao and marshmallows.
I guess that's my favorite thing with this month. How people change for the better. It might be Christmas and it might not be, but whatever the reason is, I love meeting friendly people. I love spending time with my family and friends. I love how we don't need to do anything else than just talk to each other. December for me means lots of time. Lots of time that I can spend around the people I love and care about!
Many dislike the cold that comes with December. They talk about how they look forward to the summer, or they talk about travelling, but not me. Sure, sometimes the cold gets the bett
er of me, but mostly I just love that it's cold outside because then I can enjoy coming ins
ide even more. I love when my brothers and I have to go out to clear away the snow, and we end up throwing snowballs at each other and making a snowman. And let’s not forget Sunday mornings when I wake up and my room is freezing, and I know that I can lie under my warm blanket for as long as I want. It's an amazing feeling to know that the only thing waiting for me is a day with my family and friends.
I guess I don't really have "a favorite" thing to do in December, but my favorite thing about December is all the small things I've been writing about, that makes this month the best month of the year…
